Eid-el-Fitr: Buhari Felicitates With Nigerians, Promises Victory Against Terrorist Groups
President Muhammadu Buhari has felicitated with all Nigerians and Muslims across the globe on the occasion of the Eid-Al Fitri, which marks the end of the Ramadan fasting while also promising that his administration will end insecurity in the country.
Buhari was elected in 2015 with belief that he, as a former general of the Nigeria Army, will defeat the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
Over the years, different groups have sprung up, further risking the lives of law-abiding Nigerians, an act which has put blemish on the Buhari-led administration.
However, the president in his Eid-el-Fitr message to Nigerians on Monday said the end is in sight for those hiding under the banner of religion to commit heinous crimes while also adding that there is hope for Nigeria to overcome its security challenges.
He said Boko Haram and its offshoots are gradually fading away due to his administration’s effort to secure the country.
“Last month, the leader of ISWAP was killed in an airstrike. Since the New Year, thousands of fighters have surrendered to enter rehabilitation programmes.
“The territories they used to occupy are now seeing the return of those who were forced to flee their barbarity. Normality is finally beginning to return to the Northeast. It is a long process. Yet it is one we are, together, now embarking upon.

“With the designation of bandit groups as terrorists, the challenges of banditry and kidnapping are being tackled differently in the North-Western and North Central states where the latest military acquisitions and the Armed Forces are being fanned out across the region to thwart acts of terror.”
He promised to always provide the necessary funds for security agents to assist them in the fight against insecurity.
He also stated that his government frowns against the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network adding that his approval of the establishment of a Naval base in Oguta, Imo state is to curb their activities.
He called on the Muslim faithful to continue to support the government and be law-abiding citizens.
“I would like to send my greetings and very best wishes to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, on the successful end of Ramadan, and the commemoration of Eid-el-Fitr,” he said.
