The embattled Rivers state governorship aspirant, Farah Dagogo, has been hospitalised after complaining of stomach and chest complications.
Dagogo, who currently represents the Degema-Bonny Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was arrested last Thursday on the orders of the Rivers State Government.
He is a leading aspirant for the Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial ticket in the state.
The lawmaker was arrested after the state government alleged that he sponsored cultists to disrupt activities of the PDP during the screening of aspirants for State Assembly positions in Port Harcourt last Wednesday.
Although he denied the allegation, he was declared wanted and thereafter arrested for the same crimes.
He had since be remanded in police custody by a magistrate court in Port Harcourt.
According to a statement by Ibrahim Lawal, his media aide, Dagogo complained of stomach and chest complications before he was taken to the hospital by the police where he is now receiving treatment.
The statement Wednesday read, “Hon. Doctor Farah Dagogo has been taken to the hospital by the Police. He complained of stomach and chest complications. He is receiving treatment now.
“Update will be given as the situation goes on.”
