Nigeria’s Accountant-General Suspended Over Alleged N80bn Fraud
The Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, has been suspended indefinitely over his indictment for fraud worth N80 billion.
The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, on Wednesday announced Idris’ suspension.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had on Monday arrested Idris, a development that was confirmed by the commission’s spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren.
He was arrested after he failed to honour invitations by the EFCC.
The suspension, which is without pay was put in place to ensure a proper probe of the embattled accountant-general.
