Former Minister of Youths Development, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi; a member of the Eighth Senate, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim and former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Isa Bawa have emerged as the three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), senatorial candidates for 2023 National Assembly elections in Kwara State.

Abdullahi, Ibrahim and Bawa emerged as PDP senatorial candidates for Kwara Central, Kwara North and Kwara South during the party’s primary elections held on Monday in the three senatorial districts.

They emerged through consensus arrangement and affirmation by the party delegates at the primaries supervised by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The three candidates are followers and staunch supporters of the former Kwara State governor and ex-Senate President and PDP presidential aspirant, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

Abdullahi was a Minister of Youth Development and later Sports during the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan and also served as one-time National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Bawa, who clinched the PDP ticket for Kwara North Senatorial District, was a former deputy chairman and acting chairman of the Kwara State PDP.

Senator Ibrahim was in the 8th Senate when Saraki was the Senate President.

It would be recalled that PDP kicked off its primary elections for aspirants eyeing elective positions in the 2023 general elections on Sunday, with House of Representatives and State House of Assembly primaries.
