BREAKING: Atiku Beats Wike, Saraki, Others To Emerge PDP Presidential Candidate

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has won the People’s Democratic Party 2023 presidential election.

Atiku contended the likes of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Woke and the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki to clinch the PDP presidential ticket.

The Adamawa-born politician was declared the winner of the main opposition party’s ticket which was held at the National Convention at MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Saturday.

Atiku’s emergence as the PDP’s flag bearer for the 2023 presidential election is coming after Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal withdrew from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential race and urged all his supporters and delegates to vote for former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku garnered 371 while his closest contender, Wike scored 237 votes.

Saraki came third with 70 votes while Akwa-Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel scored 38 votes.

Atiku has, since his venture into politics, shot at the office of the presidency for five times; 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019. The 2023 general election will make it his 6th attempt to lead Nigeria.
