Citizens of Kogi State, particularly those in Kabba, have been thrown into confusion after a bomb blast was heard on Sunday evening in the area.

Reports obtained by AN24TV revealed that the incident occurred in the late hours of Sunday.

Security personnel who spoke during the bomb explosion linked the bomb explosion to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

However, in a more detailed report, Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Police Force explained that the explosion happened in the Kabba Town of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state.

A few hours after the incident, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Ovye-Ayaz spoke with newsmen in Lokoja, the state capital, noting that there was no casualty recorded in the blast.

He explained that the explosion happened precisely at one Omofemi Bar at Okepadi Quarters, Kabba, around 9.15 p.m. on Sunday.

“Already the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edward Egbuka, has directed DC Investigations and the Bomb detective Squad to move to the scene to ascertain the very nature of the explosion,” he said.

The PPRO lamented that it was unfortunate that criminal elements are out to disrupt the prevailing peace they are enjoying in Kogi.

He said the investigation will continue until the perpetrators are brought to book.
