Okada Ban: Security Operatives Patrol Lagos Roads Ahead Of Enforcement

Security operatives on Tuesday embarked on a show of force to different parts of Lagos, especially highways ahead of tomorrow’s enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcycles (okada) on highways and in six local government areas and nine Local Councils Development Areas (LCDAs).
Security operatives involved in the preparation of enforcing the ban on commercial motorcycles, who patrolled Lagos roads on Tuesday include the Nigeria Police Force, Rapid Respond Squad (RRS), LASTMA, LNSC, Nigerian Army, Federal Road Safety Corps and Civil Defence, among others.
Some of the major places patrolled by the security operatives were Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Apapa, Surulere, Victoria Island and Ikoyi/Obalende, among others.

Deputy Commissioner of Police for Lagos Operatives, Mr. Muhammed Kotangora who spoke at Lagos Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja warned Lagosians to be wary of patronizing commercial motorcycles in Lagos, stating that whoever disobeys the order by the Lagos State Government will have themselves to blame.
He added that the law enforcement agency of the state is battle-ready to fight crimes and criminal activities in the state.
He also reassured the law-abiding Nigerians that their security would be guaranteed as the total ban on okada in Lagos commences tomorrow.
Reports gathered by AN24TV during the coverage also revealed that some of the eyewitnesses who were standing by the roadside hailed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for taking a drastic step in curbing the okada menace in the state.
