Turkey Rebrands As ‘Türkiye,’ Changing Name At The United Nations

Turkey has officially changed her name to TURKIYE. The country is now referred to as “Turkiye “ in the halls of United Nations, as they agreed to recognize the change on Wednesday which was requested from Turkey’s Government, as the campaign to modify Turkey kicked off in December, 2021.
On Thursday, the UN Spokesman, stephane Dujarric said that they accepted the change and it has been effective since they reciprocated the request, as they also made sure that the document was legitimate
Stephane said “It is not for us to accept or not accept the change, countries are free to choose and rebrand their names even tho it is unusual and it doesn’t happen every day “

He further stated that one of the countries he remembers, that rebranded their name is Cote d ivoire which was formally an English name known as Ivory coast
On Wednesday, The Minister of Affairs of Turkey told the state-run news agency Anadolu that the government has been able to successfully lay the preparatory measures for the name change by working with the Turkey Directorate of Communications, which is connected to the President’s Office.
The name has become active as Fahrettin Altun, Turkey’s Director of communication also posted a video on twitter with the caption #HelloTurkiye# on Wednesday
