2023 Presidency: South-West APC Leaders Narrow Down To Tinubu, Osinbajo, Fayemi

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in South-West, have reduced the party’s presidential aspirants from the zone to three.

The three aspirants according to a reliable source who spoke to AN24 on Sunday are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

AN24 gathered from a reliable source that the South-West APC leaders during a meeting held at the Abuja’s residence of former Governor of Ogun State, Aremo Segun Osoba, on Saturday which snowballed into Sunday morning appealed to four aspirants to withdraw from the race in the interest of Yoruba nation.

The aspirants are former Speakers of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole; Deputy Majority Leader of the Senate, Senator Ajayi Boroffice; former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and fiery Lagos cleric, Pastor Tunde Bakare.

“The South-West APC leaders during last night’s meeting narrowed down the presidential list from seven to three, who are Vice President (Yemi) Osinbajo, Asiwaju (Bola) Tinubu and (Kayode) Fayemi. They told the other four aspirants to step down. The meeting will continue today (Sunday) by 2pm,” a reliable source told AN24

The South-West APC leaders’ meeting held behind closed doors was convened by the interim National Chairman of APC and former Governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande and ex-Governor Olusegun Osoba.

The meeting was attended by all the presidential aspirants, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; APC governors in South-West – Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun) and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun); former governors and current ministers from the South-West zone, who are APC members.
