Fr Mbaka Under Fire Over Outburst On Peter Obi

Enugu Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has become a subject of trend on Nigerian social media space over his recent verbal attack against the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.

Mbaka who spoke at his Adoration Ministry in Enugu said unless God ceases to exist, Obi would never smell the seat of the President because he (Mbaka) has cursed him.

“A stingy man, that cannot give people his money, with this hunger ravaging the land, and you are saying he is the one you want. You want to die of hunger? Are you people insane? Where is the Holy Spirit?” He inquired.

AN24, however, observed that 131,500 Facebook followers of Mbaka’s page, Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria – AMEN unfollowed him between Wednesday and Thursday morning.

Several internet users have also condemn the direct attack on the former Anambra governor, stating that he is at liberty to spend his money how deems fit.

An angry Facebook user, Obinna Oke, blasted the preacher, alleging that the love of money has made him deviate from the line of God.

He said, “Fr Mbaka’s unfortunate transition into a yahoo priest is a clear case of the biblical warning that the love of money is the root of all evil and that the devil intentionally seeks to destroy anything of value to God. Mbaka was conquered by the devil many years ago when he became arrogant and thought himself holier and more important than the church that ordained him a priest. Mbaka had long dropped the Bible and picked up avarice.

“Our people say that when you overpraise the weeder he begins to remove the crops as well. It’s not just about his nauseating and unwarranted vituperations against Peter Obi for allegedly being stingy. Fr Mbaka had long abandoned God to worship money and it’s about time the Catholic Church put him in check. He deserves to be ostracised. The dog has gone rabid and must either be chained or…., let me not mention pepper soup.”

Another user, Mykel Chimezie Nnabuchi said, “The same PROPHET who asked you to vote for MESSIAH BUHARI has asked you NOT TO vote for PETER OBI. You get sense like this?”

“Father Mbaka’s prophecy of (President Muhammadu) Buhari being a Messiah in 2014 has made me to lost interest in some men of God,” Awe Kayode posted.

MC Zion Ebuka, who also reacted to the sermon argued that priests are not the only anointed people, referring to a Bible verse that said, “touch not my anointed”.

He also said Mbaka’s outburst has made him lose trust in the Christian faith and said that the priest would have been justified if he was able to point out any of Obi’s fault when he was governor.

Obi announced his three-day trip to Egypt on Tuesday and he is yet to officially react to Mbaka’s outburst.
