Ekiti: Police Withdraw Officers Attached To Candidates, Impose Restriction Of Movement

Ahead of the 2022 election in the state, the Ekiti State Police Command has restricted movement in and out of the state from the hours of 11:59 pm on Friday.

Announcing this, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the election, Babatunde Kokumo said in Ado Ekiti, the state capital that the restriction of movement was to prevent the incursion of criminals into the state.

Kokumo advised travellers and commuters who had planned to move through the state to seek alternative routes.

His words, “It would help security agencies prevent the flow of illicit drugs and illegal arms into the state.”

Also, Kokumo made it known that police personnel attached to candidates contesting in the election and other VIPs in the state are withdrawn pending the conclusion of the election.

Kokumo warned that policemen found with VIPs or candidates during the conduct of the election would be dealt with.

He appealed to all accredited observers to observe all rules guiding their deployment for the exercise.
