APC’s Biodun Oyebanji Emerges As Ekiti Governor-Elect



The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Biodun Oyebanji as the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election.

The party will retain power in the state as Oyebanji will replace incumbent Kayode Fayemi in October.

The governor-elect and his party scored a total of 187,057 votes while his two closest challengers, Social Democratic Party’s Segun Oni and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party scored 82,211 and 67,457 respectively.

However, only 363,438 voters were acredited.

The polls officially opened at around 8:30 am on Saturday and was expected to close at 2:30 pm.

Supporters of the ruling party erupted in jubilation after the announcement was made in the dead of the night.
