Lecturer, Policemen, Others Killed By Bandits In Benue

Five people have lost their lives following separate attacks by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Benue State.

The victims include one Fred Akaayar, a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at the Federal University, Wukari in Taraba State, two policemen and two others.

The attack on the two policement took place in in Yelewata of Guma LGA, a border town between Benue and Nasarawa States while Akaayar and two others yet to be identified were gunned down at Jootar in Ukum LGA, a border community between Benue and Taraba States on Thursday night.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the Guma incident.

She said, “I received information about two policemen killed in an operation but I am yet to receive details please,” the PPRO stated.
