Shehu Sani, Deji Adeyanju React To Muhammad’s Resignation As CJN

A former Federal Lawmaker, Shehu Sani and Human Rights Activist, Deji Adeyanju has reacted to the news of the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Earlier, AN24 reported that Muhammad resigned on Sunday night, citing ill-health as the reason for his decision.
However, Sani, who reacted via his verified Twitter account urged that the replacement of the CJN should follow due process.
Sani wrote, “The replacement for the CJN should strictly follow the laid down rules. There should be no jumping the queue in order to find a person who will fit into the political, sectional, religious or ethnic peg of the ruling establishment.”

On his part, Adeyanju blamed Muhammad for allegedly promoting corruption during his time as the CJN.
He wrote on his verfied Facebook Page, “How can a Supreme Court judge earn N900k monthly and you deny him his entitlements and expect him to reject bribe from politicians? The corruption in the judiciary under Tanko (Muhammad) is unbelievable. For the justices of the SC to come out openly to do ALUTA says it all.”
Last week, Supreme Court justices had protested against Muhammad’s leadership, accusing him of corruption, misconduct and neglect of personal welfare.
Muhammad has served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria since 2005 and was appointed Chief Justice of Nigeria back in 2019.
