Kuje Prison Attack: Abba Kyari, Nyame, Dariye Reportedly Missing

Reports coming from the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja is that some high profile inmates in custody went missing after the attack on the facility by some gunmen.

AN24 had reported that the correctional facility was on Tuesday night attacked by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

The attacks, which lasted some hours, were said to have been resisted by military personnel and prison guards on duty.

Sources, however, said that there is a possibility that the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari and his men who were in the facility escaped from the facility.

Also, the Former Plateau Governor Joshua Dariye and his Taraba counterpart Jolly Nyame who had been granted pardon by the National Council of States who were also in the facility were reportedly missing too.

Sources within the facility disclosed that besides the high profile inmates, some terrorists and other criminals might have escaped during the attack.

However, as of the time of filing this report, there was no official confirmation on the number of escapees and their profiles.

According to a source, there is the possibility that the former Governors,  Kyari and his men were evacuated for safety.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Francis Enobore and his FCT junior officer, Mr Humphrey Chukwuendo, could not be reached. Their mobiles were switched off.
