2023: APC Chieftain, Salvador, Supporters Join Labour Party
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Moshood Salvador, has joined the Labour Party.
AN24 gathered that Salvador, a former member of the House of Representatives and ex-chairman of Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has already collapsed his political group, Conscience Forum, into the Labour Party in Lagos State and he will officially join his new party tomorrow.
Salvador is expected to join Labour Party with hundreds of his supporters spread across the three senatorial districts and 20 local government areas of the state during a ceremony scheduled to take place at Salvador Towers in Surulere on Wednesday.
The former Lagos PDP chairman announced his defection from APC to Labour Party in an Eid-el-Kabir message to his followers and supporters, noting that the move is geared toward picking the party’s governorship ticket for March 11, 2023 election.
“I am delighted to inform you that the Conscience Forum structure has been adopted by the Labour Party.
“This is the greatest opportunity to regain our political relevance, recognition and benefits that were lost in APC.

“Also, Hon. Salvador is now the governorship candidate for Labour Party in Lagos state. The window of substitutions is also available for our members. If you are interested in contesting for Reps, assembly or senate, office is opened at Salvador Towers to meet the state chairman and complete your INEC form,” he said.
Confirming Salvador’s defection to Labour Party, a source told AN24 that: “Salvador was invited to Abuja some weeks ago to meet Labour Party leaders. He is being positioned to be the party’s governorship candidate in 2023. He has already joined Labour Party. He announced his defection from APC to Labour Party during the Eid-el-Kabir festival. He will be welcomed officially into Labour Party tomorrow.”
Another source very close to Salvador also confirmed his defection to Labour Party. “Salvador has joined Labour Party. He will do the official declaration tomorrow (Wednesday) in Surulere. They have sent out invitations for the event already. Salvador has been adopted as the governorship candidate for Labour Party in Lagos State for 2023 elections.”
AN24 also gathered that Salvador despite getting the backing of the leadership of his new party may likely battle former PDP governorship aspirant, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, for the governorship ticket of the Labour Party as the party set to substitute its candidates for next year’s elections.
Rhodes-Vivour joined Labour Party last week as a result of his dissatisfaction with the PDP’s internal politics and the refusal of the party’s governorship candidate, Mr Olajide Adediran to name him as running mate despite being endorsed by all 20 local government chairpersons of the party in the state.
He is also discussing with the Labour Party leader on his political aspiration.
