The Presidential jet landed at the Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, at about 10:30 a.m, and President Buhari was welcomed by Imo Governor, Hope Uzodinma, and members of his cabinet.

The President, who donned a colourful white attire and an Igbo cap, performed the Guard Of Honor at the airport.

The President is expected to commission the newly reconstructed Imo State House of Assembly Complex.

The president is expected to commission the 36-kilometre dualized Owerri/Orlu road and the first phase of the dualised 53-kilometre Owerri/Okigwe Road.

Some of the projects slated for commission include Naze-Nekede-Ihiagwa-Obinze Link Road Phase One, an underground tunnel on D-Tiger Road Owerri, the Egbeada Bye-Pass and the new State Executive Council Chambers at the Government House, among others.
