Osun Govt Sacks Teacher For Allegedly Defrauding Job Seekers

Abimbola Olowookere in Osun State has been relieved of his teaching job for allegedly defrauding some of his colleagues.

It was gathered that the suspect deceived some recently recruited teachers by the state government to the tune of N30,000 with the claim of helping to influence their posting.

Olowookere was said to have been collecting the money from the teachers in Osun East Education District, assuring them of posting to their preferred school of choice anywhere outside the district.

The Osun State Ministry of Education got wind of the development and immediately relieved the teacher of his job.

Confirming the development to newsmen on Tuesday, the State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunsho Oladoyin condemned the act and advised the recently recruited teachers to not pay attention to anyone who demands money or other gratification from them under the guise of influencing their postings.

The commissioner explained that the state government had recruited the first batch of 1000 teachers with the determination to post them to schools and towns where their services are basically needed.

According to him, the posting of the new teachers rests solely with the state Ministry of Education and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), saddled with the official responsibility of knowing where the teachers are needed.

Oladoyin further warned civil servants who are still in the act of collecting money before rendering one service or the other to desist from it or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
