Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, signed two healthcare bills to boost his state’s healthcare service delivery.

In a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Damaturu by the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the governor, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, revealed the new bills as law for the establishment of the Yobe State Emergency Medical Ambulance Service and another for the establishment of the Yobe State Healthcare and Health-Related Facilities Inspection and Monitoring Agency.

While boasting that the new bills will ensure healthcare delivery in the state is no longer compromised, Mohammed said that the two laws were aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery in matters relating to domestic and road traffic accidents, as well as monitoring healthcare facilities to provide standard services.

He said: “The emergency Medical Ambulance Service law provides an opportunity for first aid treatment to victims from the scene of accidents before reaching medical facilities.

“Similarly, the Health facility Inspection and Monitoring Agency empowers health authorities to inspect and monitor services provided by all medical facilities in the state to eliminate substandard services and cutting corners.

The governor’s aide said, “The two laws will ensure that healthcare delivery is not compromised at any level in Yobe state.”
