Kano Residents Ignore Ganduje’s Curfew, Troop Out To Celebrate NNPP’s Victory

Residents of Kano State on Monday and took to the streets to celebrate the outcome of the state’s governorship election.

It would be recalled that Governor Ganduje had announced a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the state to prevent the breakdown of law and order after the Independent National ElectorL Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Abba Yusuf as the winner of the 2023 governorship contest in the state.

The defeat of the incumbent deputy governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasir Gawuna had caused tension in the state.

In a statement by the Commissioner for internal affairs, Muhammad Garba, the Kano State government said the curfew was imposed to prevent hoodlums from causing chaos in the already tense situation.

The commissioner called on people in the state to remain indoors as security agents would not spare anyone, or a group bent on causing trouble.

However, despite the government directive, the people of Kano still took to the streets in wild jubilation to celebrate the declaration of results by INEC.
