Unemployed Man Defrauds ‘Client’ Of N100,000, Lands In Court
An unemployed man, Vitalis Okwudiri, has been dragged before a Grade 1 Area Court, Karu, Abuja over alleged fraud to tune of N100,000.
The accused was charged on Tuesday with criminal breach of trust and cheating.
According to the prosecution, the 56-year-old defendant, with the intention to buy a Nissan Altima car valued at N900,000 from the complainant, swindled him.
Adeyanju told the court that the defendant claimed the car now belonged to him and, in the process, induced and deceived the complainant and collected the sum of N100,000 as an advance deposit.

The prosecutor said when the complainant discovered dishonesty from the defendant, he asked for a refund of his money which he confessed to have converted to his personal use.
The offences, he said, contravened the provisions of the Penal Code.
Okwudiri, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Judge, Umar Mayana, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two reasonable sureties each in like sum and N100,000 to be deposited as part of bail security.
The Judge adjourned the case until April 18 for further hearing.
