Workers’ Day: Nigerian Govt Declares Monday Public Holiday

The Nigerian Government has declared Monday, May 1, 2023 a public holiday to mark this year’s May 1, Worker’s Day celebration.

Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, disclosed this on Friday (today) in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Shuaib Belgore.

The Minister also lauded Nigerian workers for their hard work, diligence and sacrifice.

According to Aregbesola, efforts of the workers are largely responsible for the greatness of the country and the respect Nigeria now commands in the comity of nations.

His words read, “There is dignity in labour; we have to have dedication and commitment to the work we do because it is vital to nation-building.”
