Osun Man In Police Net For Threatening To Kill Igbos In Yorubaland

A man, Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe, has been apprehended for allegedly threatening to kill all Igbos residing in the South West part of the country (Yoruba land).

The development was made known on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Command (PPRO), SP Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin.

SP Opalola told newsmen that the suspect had, prior to his arrest, taken to his Twitter handle to call for the killing of all southeasterners living in Yoruba land.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspect was arrested on Thursday for his tweet, which violated the social media policy on hate speech.

The statement reads, “The Osun Police Command has arrested one Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe ‘m’ 28years who violated the social media policy on hate speech.

“It could be recalled that, on 18th May, 2023, the suspect, Kehinde Adekusibe, on his Twitter handle, tweeted “Let’s kill all the Igbos. Let’s flush them out of Yoruba lands. I hate these people with a passion. They are violent people. They are worst. They hate us. Let’s hate them without holding back”.

“Immediately the police command received the report, police detectives from the cybercrime section at SCID Osogbo swung into action and through intelligence-led investigation, the suspect was arrested at Ilesa, where he hibernated.

“The suspect has confessed to the crime and he will be charged to court after the completion of investigation”.
