Lagos APPEALS Project Concludes 4-Day World Bank, FG Implementation Support Mission To Lagos

LAGOS APPEALS project has concluded a 4-day World Bank/Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Implementation Support Mission (ISM) to Lagos.

The 10th ISM visit which was described as the last official visit of the team by the project’s Task Team Leader (TTL); Dr. Manievel Sene was held between Tuesday 4th and Friday 7th of July, 2023 with a desk review and monitoring visit to project implementation sites in the State.

In his opening speech, the TTL stated that the objective of the mission was to assess the project’s overall implementation status across the project’s 5 components by measuring the environmental, financial and reporting compliance level as well as working out an exit strategy plan towards the project closing date.

On his assessment of the State, he stated that the team is impressed with Implementation level in Lagos State noting that the State has surpassed some of the set targets in the project design.

The Deputy Governor; Dr. Obafemi Hamzat who is the Chairman; State Steering Committee for Lagos APPEALS project in his statement during a courtesy visit by the Mission Team stated that the APPEALS project had been successfully implemented in the State. He then assured the team that the project would be sustained in the State.

Also present at the Support Mission were the project’s co-TTL; Dr. Chidozie Anyiro and other specialists from the World Bank, National Project Coordinator and officials of APPEALS project National Coordination Office as well as State Project Coordinators and members from the six participating States of the project.
