Some Nigerians have condemned a former Senator representing Bayelsa East Senatorial district, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, for felicitating with former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, on her son’s graduation ceremony.

Murray-Bruce on Thursday morning, posted a picture of himself and the former ministration with the caption, “Sassy, smart, and always sophisticated. Celebrating with the amazing Diezani Alison-Madueke at her son’s graduation at Reading University. Her son’s achievement is a testament to the power of good parenting. Excellence indeed runs in the family.”

AN24, however, observed that followers of the former senator, did not find the Alison-Madueke worthy of celebrating as a lot of insults were thrown at her.

Alison-Madueke is in court for multiple charges of fraud preferred on her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The agency said she committed the crimes as minister between 2010 and 2015 in former President Goodluck Jonathan government.

The former minister had earlier told the Federal High Court in Abuja that she travelled to the United Kingdom in 2015 to get treatment after being diagnosed with “the most aggressive form of breast cancer; Triple Negative Cancer.”

Responding to Murray-Bruce’s post, a Facebook user, Obakpee Isaac Osaheni, asked “Where is the breast cancer she said she has? Where?”

Another user, Baridam Ben, who disagreed with the former lawmaker in his description of Alison-Madueke said, Excellence how? Excellence in looting of treasury and taking pictures at the expense of millions of poor people? Mtchwee! No be everything you go dey celebrate, Ben Bruce.”

Anthony Okereke said, “Finally, the woman don well, Diezani Ekperima” (Sic).

One Yusuf Ali, while advising Murray-Bruce said, “Oga Ben Murray-Bruce, it’s like you have lost your ‘common sense’ oh. You need to be brought back.”

“Tomorrow, the same man will come and tell you about good governance. See him talking about good parenting, this folks don’t care,” Abbey Funsho Kingsley slammed the former lawmaker.

Casmir Ejike Okoli said, “Congratulations to her son. Meanwhile, is madam now okay? We heard she had cancer some time ago.”
