Nigerian Gold Medallist Turns Voluntary Lagos Road Worker
Nigerian Gold Medallist, Bassey Etim, also known as Ironbar, has resorted to using his inbuilt energy to work on roads in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
Etim, who was seen dressed in all-black attire holding a shovel after using both his hands to carry a stone and use it to block a pothole on the bad road, said he joined weightlifting to make a positive impact in society.

He added that during his first competition at the 1981 National World Festival, he bagged a Gold Medal for Lagos State.
Etim said, “My name is Bassey Etim, aka IronBar. I am from Cross Rivers State, I was born in 1965. When I was in my youth, I was getting into trouble and I decided to transfer the negative energy to positive energy.
“So, I joined weightlifting. My first competition was in the 1981 National World Festival in which I won gold for Lagos State.”
