Poor Wages: Aviation Security Workers Begin Nationwide Strike On Wednesday

The Aviation Security (AVSEC) and the Logistics Sub-Sector will be embarking on an indefinite strike on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

This follows a directive by the National Union of Air Transport Employees which stated that the decision was reached due to poor wages.

In a memorandum signed by the General Secretary of NUATE, Comrade Ocheme Aba, the 30,000 wages paid to members of AVSEC who are mostly graduates was unrealistic based on the current economy.

He added that all efforts to negotiate improved wages for their members in the past proved abortive.

This was contained in a circular sent to the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Commissioner of Police, Airports Command, the Airport Commandant, Director, Department of State Security, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos Command.
