The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday sent list of 18 new nominees to the Lagos State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation as members of the State cabinet.

According to the new list of nominees, Governor Sanwo-Olu represented the names of the immediate past Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, his Health counterpart, Prof. Akin Abayomi and four others Engr. Olalere Odusote (Energy), Bolaji Dada (Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation), Sam Egube (Budget and Economic Planning) and two others former members of the State Executive Council to the Lagos Assembly.

The two other members of immediate past state executive represented by Governor Sanwo-Olu are immediate past Special Adviser on Agriculture, Rice Initiative, Dr. Rotimi Fashola and his Public Private Partnership counterpart, Mr. Mosopefolu George.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also represented Mr. Yomi Oluyomi, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose Medem, Ms. Barakat Bakare, Mr. Seun Osiyemi and Dr. Olumide Oluyinka.

While Omotoso, Abayomi and seven others names were represented, Governor Sanwo-Olu dropped the names of the immediate past Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Adefisayo, ex-Special Adviser to Works and Infrastructures, Engr. Aramide Adeyooye and former Special Adviser on SDGs and Innovation, Mrs. Solape Hammond.

Also not represented by Governor Sanwo-Olu among the 17 nominees not confirmed earlier were Mr. Lekan Fatodu and Mr. Rotimi Ogunwuyi.

The new names among the 18 nominees are Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen, Prof. Akinola Emmanuel Abayomi, Mr. Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe, Hon. Tolani Sule Akibu, Dr. Yekini Nurudeen Agbaje, Dr. Iyabode Oyeyemi Ayoola and Hon. Sola Shakirudeen Giwa.

The list of new 18 nominees read on the floor of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday was as a result of the earlier rejection of the 17 nominees by the Assembly over political and religious controversy that trailed the initial list of 39 nominees sent by Governor Sanwo-Olu to the House.

It would be recalled that the Lagos State House of Assembly last month confirmed 22 nominees and failed to confirmed 17.

Those not confirmed are 10 former members of the immediate past members of the State Executive Council. They were Gbenga Omotoso, Folashade Adefisayo, Olalere Odusote, Bolaji Dada, Akin Abayomi, Sam Egube, Aramide Adeyoye, Solape Hammond, Rotimi Fashola and Mosopefoluwa George.

Also not confirmed by the Lagos Assembly then are Mr. Yomi Oluyomi, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose, Ms. Barakat Bakare, Mr. Olalekan Fatodu, Mr. Seun Osiyemi, Mr. Rotimi Ogunwuyi and Dr. Olumide Oluyinka.
