Family, Friends, Fans Mourn Nigerian Afrobeat Singer MohBad, As He Was Laid To Rest

Tears, lamentation and grief was the order of the day as family members, friends trooped out in their numbers on Wednesday to Gberigbe, Ikorodu Lagos, to pay their last respect for the late Afrobeat singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Imole, better known as MohBad.
Nigerian music promoter Kogbagidi, Skit maker and Comedian Cute Abiola, OGB Recent and Tiktok influencer, Salo who was represented by his colleague Niyan Yan, among others graced the burial to pay their colleague a last respect and also express their condolence to the deceased’s family in Ikorodu, Lagos.
However, the burial of the deceased singer, took a dramatic turn on Wednesday when some unidentified thugs in Ikorodu started harassing and demanding money from Skitmaker and comedians, Cute Abiola, alongside music promoters, Kogbagidi and OGB Recent, on their attempt to leave Gberigbe, Ikorodu where the deceased was buried.
They abandoned their cars and boarded commercial motorcycles as the situation got worse.
Speaking on the death of his son, MohBad’s father Mr Joseph Aloba told AN24TV that the news of his son’s death came as a rude shock to the family.
Mr Aloba described Mohbad as a cherished son, friend and a brother, not just to his family but to many and he would be greatly missed.
His words, “His death came as a rude shock to us because we did not expect anything of such. He was more than a son and friend to us, he was everything to us.”
Reacting on Mohbad’s musical career, Mr Aloba reiterated his son’s passion for music adding that he spent part of his early life working with him as a carpenter before he shot to lime light.
Mr Aloba added that Mohbad’s enthusiasm in his quest for a brighter future inspired him to support his music career by getting him a talking drum at his tender age which he eventually got trained and became a master in playing talking drum within two days.
His words, “he started working with me as a carpenter at age 14. I bought him talking drum in his early life as a way of encouraging his passion for music. To my greatest surprise within two days of training with the talking drum, he became a master in it”.
“Don’t try to be someone you are not”, those were the words of advise his father had given him before his demise.

Reacting on the cause of his son’s death. He stated that Mohbad was vomiting, coupled with stomach ache. Possible reasons for the cause of his death is yet to be fully ascertained.
In Mr Aloba’s words, “I was not there when he was rushed to the hospital, I was at a bus stop when they called me on phone. I was told to wait that they were attending to him. He was vomiting and also having stomach ache. Thereafter it was announced he passed on.
Also, friends of the late musician, Mohbad described him as a philanthropist.
According to them, Mohbad has blessed most of them musically and financially.
A friend to Mohbad’s father in Ikorodu, Akinsola Idowu
also shed more light about Mohbad’s lifetime. He hinted his death came as a shock to him.
His words, “He was a very gentle person to me, and very useful to his family, and the community at large.”
However, those who visited the site where Mohbad was laid to rest were unhappy that many of his colleagues in the music industry failed to pay him their last respect.
