Court Grants Bail To Former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele

A FCT high court sitting in Maitama has granted bail to the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

Terms of the bail by the Presiding Judge, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi, are that he should be released to his counsel, Matthew Burkaa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who is to produce him for arraignment on 15th November.

In addition, Emefiele is to deposit his passport with the court as well as his other travelling documents

Justice Adeniyi noted that the fact that the applicant is scheduled to be arraigned, is speculative.

There must be an end to detention without trial.
