Melaye Calls For Cancellation Of 5 LGAs Election In Kogi

The flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Kogi State governorship poll, Senator Dino Melaye has summoned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the election of the five local government areas in in the State.
This local governments stated by Melaye include Okene, Okehi, Ajaokuta, Adavi, and Ogori/Mangogo of the State.
Melaye disclosed this via his official X handle, formerly known Twitter.
The PDP flagbearer wrote ”INEC must cancel the election in the 5 local governments of Kogi central. The election in Okene, Okehi, Ajaokuta, Adavi, and Ogori/Mangogo is a scam from the highest level of INEC.”
AN24 earlier reported that two fake results sheets that emerged during the ongoing Kogi State gubernatorial poll on Saturday morning.
The development led to protests by the residents in the State.

A case of pre-filled results sheets shared by Yiaga Africa @Yiaga on X handle revealed that the pre-filled results sheet emerged from PU 020, Erika/Ohizenyi, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Also, another pre-filled results sheet surfaced online from PU 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/Magongo in Kogi State.
In PU 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/Magongo, the pre-written results show that the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 200 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored two votes and Social Democratic Party (SDP) was allocated two votes.
In PU 020, Erika/Ohizenze, Okehi LGA, it was pre-filled that the APC scored 530 votes, PDP had 0 votes and SDP had one vote respectively.
Both results were written on the sheets while accreditation and voting had not even commenced.
The residents, therefore embarked on a protest following their displeasure with the incident as they described it as unacceptable to them.
The residents also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to investigate and address the issue with immediate effect in other to safeguard the integrity of election activities in Kogi State.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reportedly cancelled election in 67 polling units in Ogori-Magongo local government area of Kogi State.
