Lagos Sponsors 120 Officers To Attend Industrial Conferences— Lagos Commissioner
…As 3,087 Officers got approval to acquire advanced qualifications
As part of effort to improve the employees’ knowledge and skills, as well as enhancing their professional status, the Lagos State government has sponsored 120 employees to attend industrial conferences.
A total of “3,087 Officers were also given approval to further their studies and to acquire an advanced qualifications relevant to their respective jobs.”
The Honourable Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, disclosed this to newsmen at the ongoing 2024 Ministerial Press Briefing, held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos.
The Commissioner also emphasised that the introduction of Learning Management System in year 2020, made it possible for the State Government to train over 60,000 officers in a year, which was actually approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
Ayantayo added that the accelerated capacity building embarked upon by the State Government has resulted in significant increase in the number of officers trained and retrained during the period under review.
The Commissioner stated that a 3-month exchange programme is currently going on also, which would afford officers in the public Service to gain practical knowledge, and to expose them to best practices and new techniques.

Speakkng further, Mr Ayantayo said that the ministry has shifted training approach to a workshop/experiential mode which is designed to ensure that participants grasp the theoretical concepts as well as have the opportunity to contextualize their learning within their Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The Commissioner said, “in the current phase of training programmes, the ministry has shifted towards a workshop/experiential approach.
“This interactive training style is designed to ensure that participants not only grasp the theoretical concepts but also apply their learning within their respective MDAs.”
He urged Lagos State Retirees to stay updated, assuring them that the Lagos State Government has not failed to ensure the welfare and entitlement of its retirees remain top priority, saying that by this time next year, the backlog of arrears of pensions and gratuity owed would be would have been paid.
