Breaking: Lagos Begins Commercial Operation Of Red Line Train

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has revealed the commencement of the commercial operation of the Red Line train service.

The Governor disclosed this on X @jidesanwoolu.

The Red Line will currently operate four daily trips between Oyingbo and Agbado.

Sanwo-Olu said, “The Red Line Rail has officially kicked off its invitational passenger operations.

“This achievement represents a major advancement in reshaping public transportation in Lagos, bringing us closer to a modern, efficient, and interconnected city.

“The Red Line will operate four daily trips between Oyingbo and Agbado. This essential route will not only facilitate commuting for thousands but also alleviate congestion and enhance the quality of life for our residents.

“Morning departures from Oyingbo will begin at 8:30 AM, making stops at key stations such as Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, before arriving at Agbado by 9:37 AM. The trains will adhere strictly to their schedules, ensuring order and efficiency in our rail services.

“This initial passenger operation allows us to continually assess the system’s safety, reliability, and efficiency, while gathering valuable feedback from passengers. This is a crucial step towards full commercial operations.

“Once fully operational, the Red Line is anticipated to run 20 trips daily, accommodating over 500,000 passengers each day. This rail line is more than just transportation; it’s a vital link that connects our communities and drives economic growth.
