…to showcase over 100 SMEs at Freedom Park
The Lagos State Government is gearing up to host the 18th edition of the celebrated Culturati Festival, themed “Freedom Edition,” at the historic Freedom Park on Broad Street, Lagos Island.
The festival, scheduled from December 5 to December 7, 2024, promises a dazzling celebration of African culture, innovation, and art.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will serve as the Chief Host, alongside the festival’s visionary initiator and Lagos State Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism, Idris Aregbe.
Day 1: Empowering SMEs through the Culturati Marketplace
The festival will open on December 5 with the Culturati Marketplace, a dynamic trade fair showcasing over 100 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from diverse sectors, including art, crafts, food, tourism, and the creative economy.
This initiative is designed to boost Lagos’ economy by providing businesses with a platform to gain visibility and connect with investors and dignitaries.
Day 2: Taste of Africa and African Heritage Celebration
On December 6, the festival will feature Taste of Africa Lagos, offering attendees a chance to savor authentic African cuisine.
This will be followed by the Culturati Festival and Fashion Show, a spectacular celebration of African heritage through music, storytelling, and fashion.
The event aims to bridge the gap between tradition and modernity, spotlighting Africa’s unique cultural diversity.
Day 3: Gala and Award Night
The festival will conclude on December 7 with a prestigious Gala and Award Night, recognizing individuals and organizations that have made remarkable contributions to cultural preservation and innovation.
The evening will blend elegance with entertainment, showcasing the richness of African culture.
Beyond entertainment, Culturati has a profound impact on youth empowerment through its academy, which has trained over 10,000 individuals in creative and digital skills. This year’s festival will also witness the launch of the Culturati Community Library, aimed at promoting literacy and cultural education.
The choice of Freedom Park as the venue underscores Lagos State’s commitment to cultural and historical preservation.
The park, once a colonial-era prison, now stands as a symbol of resilience and freedom, reflecting the festival’s theme.
The Freedom Edition promises to unite communities, celebrate African heritage, and elevate Lagos as a global cultural and tourism hub. It is a must-attend event for enthusiasts of African culture, business, and innovation.
