Breaking: GAC In Crucial Meeting Over Assembly Crisis

The Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) of the Lagos APC is currently having another crucial meeting today (Monday) at the Lagos House Marina to address the ongoing leadership crisis in the state House of Assembly.
GAC, led by Pa Tajudeen Olusi, is the APC’s top decision-making body, and its decisions are binding.
This follows a similar meeting held two weeks ago at the same venue.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is also expected to convene the weekly Executive Council meeting, where discussions will focus on resolving the crisis.
The issue stems from the removal of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa on January 13, 2025, by 32 out of 40 members of the House over allegations of financial mismanagement and misconduct. His replacement, Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, has sparked mixed reactions within GAC and the public.
Some GAC members, including Muraina Taiwo and Musiliu Obanikoro, have criticized the process leading to Obasa’s removal, with diverging opinions on the legality of the action. GAC Secretary Mutiu Are stated that the issue is a “family affair” and would be resolved internally.
